Speaker Highlight : Nikia Grayson, CNM, FNP, DNP, MPH

Dr. Grayson is the third speaker at the Reducing Maternal Mortality: Strategies that Work meeting to be held at Frontier Nursing University, Versailles KY on September 19, 2024. She is the Chief Clinical Officer, CHOICES Center for Reproductive Health and its Birth Center in Memphis, Tennessee. A family nurse-midwife, she is dedicated to serving and empowering black and brown communities and in enlarging the number of nurse-midwives of color in the southern part of the United States. She is an advocate for families and communities and is passionate about ensuring that they receive the comprehensive and culturally congruent care they deserve.  She is a graduate of Howard University with a BA in Communications and a MS in Public Health. She received her education in medical anthropology at the University of Memphis and was awarded the Doctorate of Nursing Practice at the University of Tennessee. Frontier Nursing University awarded her a certificate degree of nurse-midwifery.  In a career  spanning over fifteen years, she has advocated  for birth justice which is the topic of her presentation. She is on the Board of the American College of Nurse-Midwifery and is a member of the Board of Directors of SisterReach, an organization that began in Tennessee.
