The need for public awareness of air pollution health risks to reproduction.

The Campion Fund is concerned that the public is not aware about the impact of air pollution on reproductive health as they lack information regarding the scientific evidence for adverse outcomes.  For this reason, we are expanding our efforts in this area.   In June 2019 we held a meeting in Salt Lake City for the scientific community that included an open public session.   We believe it is important to improve our efforts to reach out to the public, especially those most impacted by the effect of pollution on their reproductive health and the health of their future children.  Thus, we are developing ways to continue our initiative - “Awareness of the Impact of Air Pollution on Reproductive Health”.   Plans include the development of educational material and an online program aimed at young persons of childbearing age.  The material will not only point out the risks but present ways in which individuals and their families can mitigate these risks.  This material will be made available to Fertility, Prenatal, Pediatric and Family Practice Clinics and Doctor’s offices in the Salt Lake Valley.  We plan to also present workshops to professional staff on the use of this material and best practices on teaching about the harms of air pollution to the reproductive health of both men and women, unborn children and future generations.   We also will make use of presentations focused on the urgency of prevention on local TV stations as well as to promote the online educational program.  The Campion Fund is pleased to note that we have the backing of the Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment, The University of Utah Departments of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Utah Center for Reproductive Medicine

The Campion Fund provides awards to junior investigators presenting the best research talks at the Annual Consortium for Reproductive Biology Meeting.
